We have hired a professional archivist to begin organizing our growing collection.The Jewish Museum & Cultural Center plans to build a major addition adjacent to, and connected with, the restored synagogue, to house a Hampton Roads Jewish Archives Repository. The collection will consist of documents, photographs, letters, mementos, and objects. The Museum will memorialize the activities of Jewish immigrants, citizens, businesses, religious groups, congregations, and societies. This will lead to a greater understanding and appreciation of the integral role the Jewish people have played in Hampton Roads.
Historians will be able to study here. Tourists will see amazing exhibits. The History of Hampton Roads began in 1609 when John Smith explored the Elizabeth River. The history of its Jewish citizens will now become a part of that
